Ruth Roberts and Ivor Williams to receive RYA Community Award for services to the Royal Anglesey Yacht Club

It has been announced Ruth Roberts and Ivor Williams are to receive an award from the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) for services to the Royal Anglesey Yacht Club.

The awards will be presented by HRH The Princess Royal in London in November.
The RYA Community Awards recognise the exceptional voluntary contribution given by individuals who make a real impact on the sport.  These awards are seen as the MBEs of yachting and are only given to volunteers involved at the grass roots level.

Miss Roberts is to be given a lifetime commitment award.  The Royal Anglesey Yacht Club wanted to publicly recognise a member who has not only done a job that is essential to the smooth running of the club but executed it with the utmost professionalism and efficiency.  As membership secretary Ruth has worked as part of the team for over 24 years and has seen many different Commodores and Management Committees. She has also been a member of the club since 1957.

Ivor Williams is being given an award for an outstanding contribution to the club. Ivor not only arranges the monthly members’ luncheon but also often stands in as race officer at short notice.  Ifor has been a member of the management committee in the past and is always willing to lend a helping hand when things need doing.

Mike Butterfield, commodore said “I am so pleased that the RYA has recognised the voluntary contribution which has been made by these two exceptional individuals, without them and other hard working members our club would not be such a fun and friendly place.”
