RAYC members kick of the sailing season in medieval style
The Royal Anglesey Yacht Club, Beaumaris recently kicked off its sailing season at Hendre Hall, with a harp and a lute as well as a flagon of mead! The Yacht Club rented the venue at Tal-y-Bont, Bangor to hold a medieval banquet. Over 70 members attended many of whom were in full medieval regalia. Penny and Malcolm Innes, who own Hendre Hall were the hosts for the evening; where Club members were treated to harp music, acrobatic displays as well as birds of prey and a four course dinner. Royal Anglesey Yacht Club Commodore, Mike Butterfield said, "Usually we hold a black tie dinner dance but this year we wanted to do something completely different. We were not sure how well it would be received by our members but the feedback was fantastic and everyone enjoyed themselves. An event such as this gets everyone together again before the sailing season begins, and adds to the pre-racing season excitement". The first race of the season was on Saturday 26th April. Racing will take place every Saturday until the end of September.
